Spring 2025: a season of bloom and buzz
This year, our bees emerged from winter ready for action and nature delivered. After a mild start to the year, May brought a wave of blossoms, and the bees at Lower Woods wasted no time. Nestled in one of Gloucestershire’s wildest corners, our hives are surrounded by ancient woodland, damp meadows, and wildlife-rich commons that burst into bloom as spring matured. Hawthorn exploded across Inglestone Common like confetti, while towering sycamores and candle-like horse chestnuts lit up the canopy. Thanks to the warm, settled weather and the naturally lush, undisturbed landscape, the bees also found dandelions and blackthorn still going strong.
Did you know? A single honey bee will only produce about 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey in its entire lifetime. It takes the collective effort of thousands of bees, each making countless journeys from the hive to flowers like the ones found in Lower Woods, to create a single jar of this delicious honey.
The result? A beautifully light and floral honey with a mellow, late-spring character that gives a true taste of this abundant and unspoiled corner of the countryside.
